Jim Bassett has been writing songs and fronting bands since he was a teen, and has performed hundreds of shows around his Chicago-area home town over the years. His debut Roots Rock album, Lockdown, was released in 2013. His well-crafted lyrics layer over rock, blues, country, Latin or folk rhythms, invoking allies, enemies and exes with equal ease. The album is REAL music played by real musicians without the assistance of sequencers or AutoTune, and Jim sings all lead vocals and harmonies. Jim's instrument is his voice and just after Lockdown was released that voice was silenced by a stroke. Jim battled back, regaining his ability to speak and learning to live with physical paralysis. His songs live on, so he's gathered additional demo tracks and unreleased tunes and made them available here as well.
